Page titles are an important aspect of search engine optimization. They are the first thing users see after a search query.
Indicate page titles by using title tags
A title tag tells both users and search engines what the topic of a particular page is.
Choose a title that effectively communicates the topic of the page’s content. These titles should include focus keywords.
Use brief, but descriptive titles. If the title is too long, Google will show only a portion of it in the search result.
Avoid:
– choosing a title that has no relation to the content on the page.
– using default or vague titles like “Untitled” or “New Page 1”.
– stuffing unneeded keywords in your title tags.
– using extremely lengthy titles is unhelpful to users.
Ideally, you should create a unique title for each page on your site, this helps Google know how the page is distinct from the others on your site.
A homepage title can list the name of your website or business and include other bits of important information like main focuses or offerings.

When using WordPress, you will typically be given a default text box to enter a title.
Page title contents are displayed in search results
If your document appears in a search results page, the contents of the title tag will usually appear in the first line of the results.
Every search result has three parts:
• Title: The first line of any search result is the title of the webpage. Click the title to go to the site.
• URL: You’ll see the web address of the web page.
• Snippet: Below the URL is text that helps show how the page relates to your query. The words you search for will show in bold to make it easier for you to decide if the page has what you’re looking for.
Words in the title are bolded if they appear in the user’s search query. This can help users recognise if the page is likely to be relevant to their search.
